Former WesCorp economist Dwight Johnston has a new home: the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues.

According to an email obtained by Credit Union Times from Johnston to his clients, Johnston will join the leagues as chief economist, effective Tuesday.

According to his LinkedIn account, he has been running his own economic and market analysis firm, Dwight Johnston Economics, since October 2010.

According to the email, the leagues will permit Johnston to continue to provide economic and market analysis to his current paid subscribers and customers; league members will ultimately access Johnston's commentary through the league as a benefit of membership.

In February, Johnston and Callahan Financial Services announced a partnership to provide daily economic commentary; it is not yet known if that arrangement will continue.

Johnston was laid off from the-then Western Bridge FCU in 2010. He had joined WesCorp in July 1998 and obtained the title of vice president of economic and market research. He is a graduate of the University of Texas-Austin with a degree in finance and economics.
