Ernest “Dizzy” Felkel has been named the first South Carolina Palmetto Protégé by the South Carolina Credit Union League.
Felkel, marketing and member education coordinator at the $128 million SPC Credit Union in Hartsville, S.C., will receive first-year tuition at the Southeast CUNA Management School in June in Athens, Ga., and will be a spokesperson for young adults through social media and league and chapter meetings, the SCCUL said.
He also will establish and lead a Young Professional Initiative group to foster peer development and the ongoing Palmetto Protégé competition, the league said.
Felkel, who has been at SPC CU for a year, was chosen from a group of four finalists based on a written exam and a presentation to the league's annual meeting.
“Seeing these young people present so thoughtfully on the credit union movement assures me for the future,” SCCUL President/CEO Steve Fowler said. “All of them are quality individuals committed to our mission of improving members' financial lives and giving back to our communities.”
