The $1.1 billion Community First Credit Union in Jacksonville, Fla., is conducting tis second “Investing in You” social media community service contest.
Community First will award $1,000 every two weeks to projects that would improve community life on Florida's First Coast, the credit union said. Ideas are submitted through the credit union's Facebook page.
Semifinalists will be chose from those who get the most “likes” and then six winning ideas will be chosen by the credit union. The contest launches this week and runs through July 13.
Winners last year included a documentary about the struggle for equal rights in the gay community, providing swimming tubs for rescued tigers, technology tools for an after-school program, and school supplies.
“We launched the Investing in You campaign last year and were overwhelmed with the participation,” said John Hirabayashi, Community First CEO. “We had nearly one hundred great ideas submitted and thousands of online votes. We were thrilled to see the quantity and quality of ideas for community improvement. And we are proud to give back to the community in such a meaningful and personalized way.”
