Russ Plunkett, president/CEO of Postal Credit Union, Woodbury, Minn., has been inducted into the 2012 Credit Union House Hall of Leaders. Plunkett was among 13 credit union leaders honored by Credit Union House LLC at its annual meeting last month in Washington, D.C.

"The Credit Union House Hall of Leaders was introduced to provide lasting recognition for credit union leaders whose commitment has made a significant impact on the credit union movement at the local, state, or national level," said Charles Elliott, chairman of Credit Union House and president/CEO of the Mississippi Credit Union Association. "Being inducted to the Hall of Leaders is a high honor and has been an excellent way to acknowledge those who serve credit unions."

Plunkett has been influential in the development of the Minnesota credit union movement. As chairman of the Minnesota Credit Union League, he led an effort to merge Minnesota's two trade associations into one entity, which led to the creation of the Minnesota Credit Union Network.

In addition, throughout his 34-year credit union career, he has made it a priority to engage elected officials in conversations about credit unions and their positive impact on members and communities. For 10 years, he has been an active member of MnCUN's Political Involvement Committee, participating in political events and activities.
