In its own spin on Reality TV, the $562 million Tropical Financial Credit Union in Florida has started its search for five new stars with great stories to share.
"Credit unions are owned by real, hardworking people, who have real stories to tell about how the credit union has helped them achieve financial success. And while we hear the stories every day one-on-one, we thought it would be great if the community at large got a chance to hear them, and learn from these real people what credit unions are all about," said Rich Helber, president/CEO at Tropical Financial.
The Miramar, Fla.-based credit union has kicked off a Fame for Five campaign, where cameras will zoom in on locals interested in sharing their stories of how the credit union has helped them or could help them achieve their financial goals.
Auditions will be held at three Tropical Financial branches. Slated to run through the end of May, the credit union will give interested South Floridians one minute to tell their story. The five people with the best stories will each be paid $5,000 and share their winning stories in various TV, radio and print ads.
"You don't have to be a member to participate – we even have some ideas on the microsite to help people who want to audition, but may not know what a credit union is all about," said Amy McGraw, vice president of marketing. "If you have an ability to comfortably share a story on camera, we want to hear it. We're looking for the best of the best."
