Cornelia Downs, the retired 34-year CEO of NCSC Federal Credit Union – now the $144 million Innovations CU – in Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday.

Downs, 78, served on the CUNA and Florida Credit Union League boards for many years and become the Florida League's first female chairman in 1986. The Florida League is now part of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions

“She was a tireless credit union supporter as she held many positions on the board for the Gulf Coast Chapter of Credit Unions including president,” the league said in a statement. “Following her retirement, she continued her passion for credit unions by being active on the boards of several credit unions.”

Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Panama City on Saturday.
