Congressional Federal Credit Union announced today that 188 members of Congress have agreed to serve as honorary race chairs for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run 5K Run-Walk.

This year's event is scheduled for April 1 and again will raise funds for the Children's Miracle Network.

“Congressional support for the Cherry Blossom race is unprecedented,” said Charles A. Mallon Jr., president/CEO of the $705 million CFCU. “The participation from the Capitol Hill community has enhanced the collaborative efforts of credit unions to raise funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and is greatly appreciated.

Speaker John A. Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, Assistant Democratic Leader James Clyburn and Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson are the members of the leadership in Congress who have already agreed to serve as honorary race chairs along with District of Columbia Mayor Vincent D. Gray.

Donations to the Children's Miracle Network helps children in 170 hospitals across the U.S. and Canada afford treatment.

“Congress also supports the Cherry Blossom race through the Capitol Hill Competition, which Congressional Federal co-sponsors with the United States Senate Federal Credit Union, the Credit Union National Association and the National Association of Federal Credit Unions,” Mr. Mallon said.
