Former bank customer Francis Johnson of St. Paul, Minn., recently became the 200,000th member to join Wings Financial Credit Union.

The $3.4 billion credit union in Apple Valley, Minn., celebrated the milestone by presenting Johnson with a welcome basket including a gift card and Wings Financial-branded merchandise.

Johnson said he was attracted to the credit union's rates and service.

"I heard about Wings through my fiancée and my mother," said Johnson. "The closer I looked, the more I liked their rates, their services, the branches and the ATM network. I just switched from Highland Bank where – even though most of the people were nice – I never felt like I was more than an account for them."

Wings Financial President/CEO Frank Weidner said the credit union is committed to serving Johnson and the cooperative's 199,999 other members.

"We're looking forward to showing him the differences in how we do business and how we take care of our members," Weidner said.

Founded in 1938 to serve employees of Northwest Airlines, Wings Financial now serves residents of the 13-county Twin Cities metropolitan area as well as air transportation employees nationwide.
