OMG. Did I really say I'd blog five times a month here at ForbesWoman.com? Was I nuts to start in February, when the paperback edition of my book on women, power, and leadership is coming out on Leap Day, and I'm chasing my tail 95 ways to Sunday? I call No Excuses: 9 Ways Women Can Change How we Think About Power, my study of women's relationship with power and leadership, “the little book that could,” but it seems like I can't.
There's so much to do that I keep doing the urgent but not the important, which is to get this blog up and running.
I'm hyperventilating.
No, I'm absolutely frozen with fear.
Reason #1: I am daunted at learning a new and different blogging system. The fifteen page manual they sent me to show me how just made the fear and resistance worse. They've got to be kidding. And what are these things with names I never heard of, like “Headline Grabs” and “”Vest Pocket?”
Reason #2: Had oral surgery on one side of my mouth and then a tooth crumbled on the other side, so I was living on soup and smoothies for a week. Who can write and learn a new blogging system under those conditions?
Reason #3: Twitter. Must tweet. Now. Five people are waiting for me to play my turn on Words With Friends. And should I do Pinterest? These are issues of enormous import to my life.
