A newly rewritten core processing platform is now in place at all the credit unions that had been using the DNAsme (small market edition) solution from Open Solutions Inc., the company said.
The CUnify platform is aimed at credit unions of $250 million and less in assets and its user base has grown from 80 to 135 clients in the past 18 months, the company said.
Open Solutions said it has invested heavily in the rewrite of DNAsme, building it on the Java development platform and Sybase database management system to create a member-centric system it said is consistent across all channels of service delivery and data management.
“This shows us that Open Solutions is dedicated to going forward with the product. This is important to us because we want a system that is going to continue to grow and change with our needs so we can continue to be competitive,” said Liz Steffen, vice president at the $221 million Envista Credit Union in Topeka, Kan.
The Web-based system and new Intel-Linux operating environment also is designed to allow credit union and IT departments to more easily train on and then manage and deploy throughout the branches, the company said.
“CUnify provides credit unions that typically have limited access to more costly solutions a robust and modern technology platform. With these investments we are stating clearly and categorically that this market and the CUnify product are major components of our go-forward strategy,” said David Mitchell, executive vice president and chief marketing officer in charge of product management for Open Solutions in Glastonbury, Conn.
The introduction of the Sybase platform is apparently a new strategy for the privately held Open Solutions. The company rose to prominence on the strength of its Oracle relational database core platform, signing a series of large and small credit unions and processors and acquiring small legacy core operators.
