This year marks Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union's 60th anniversary of service to its membership across the state of Texas and nationwide.

The Austin, Texas-based credit union was granted a charter on Jan. 4, 1952 as the Texas Department of Public Welfare Credit Union, named after its main sponsor. In 1986, the name of the credit union changed to Greater TEXAS Federal Credit Union to reflect a more diversified membership base. The credit union now has 16 branches across the state of Texas, more than 66,000 members and $480 million in assets.

The credit union's 60th anniversary celebration kicks off March 1 and runs until the end of August. All members are entered in to win a  Carnival Cruise and other prizes.
