Remote deposit capture – technology that allows the member to scan or take a smartphone picture of a check and submit it electronically for deposit – can be a vital tool for attracting and retaining business from small businesses, according to Aite Group.

The think firm recently issued a report based on surveys of banks, credit unions and primarily on a study of 291 small businesses. It found that RDC offerings were relatively scarce compared with the business interest in using the new tools.
