JSC Federal Credit Union reached a 50-year milestone last month.
During the months of November and December, the credit union offered promotions, events, and contests for its members in appreciation of their loyalty throughout the years.
Around the community, people saw the JSC FCU 50th anniversary logo on promotional products, signs and print materials such as posters and ads.
In addition, members could participate in the "Share the Love" member referral promotion and the "I Heart JSC FCU" promotion. These promotions gave members the opportunity to spread the word about how great JSC FCU is with the opportunity to win $25 for each referral and a bonus $500 drawing at the end of the year.
Members could even visit a customized website, www.bankingredefined.org, for information about promotions and other 50th anniversary events.
On Dec. 2, JSC FCU invited all members to join in the celebration by offering complimentary cake and refreshments at all branch locations. The credit union also held a drawing for an iPad.
JSC Federal Credit Union was originally chartered to serve employees of Johnson Space Center in Houston and began operations Dec. 27, 1961. The credit union was organized by a group of NASA employees looking for an alternative to high-cost banking products and services with the ability to support members of the aerospace community.
JSC FCU has grown to serve more than 117,000 members and operate 17 branch offices spanning over 20 communities in the Houston Bay Area. It now has assets of $1.5 billion.
