The $361 million Members Choice Credit Union said it was recently ranked the tenth top SBA lender in the Houston market.
Members Choice began its business lending program in 2009. In 2011, it granted more than $15 million in business loans to a variety of small businesses.
Last June, the credit union received SBA approval to become a Preferred Lender, which gives lenders the authority to streamline the loan application process. According to the credit union, there are only eight credit unions in Texas with the Preferred Lender designation.
The credit union was presented with a plaque in recognition of the SBA honor at a recent Houston Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders luncheon. Members Choice President/CEO Steve Gilman and staff received the plaque from Manuel Gonzalez, district director of SBA's Houston district office.
"We are honored to receive this award from the SBA, and thank our dedicated SBA lending department who has worked diligently to help us achieve this recognition," Gilman said.
