Fiserv Inc. said in a new report that mobile bill pay usage is growing, with more than 6 million Americans using smartphones to pay bills in the past year.

Other lead findings from the third annual online billing household survey was that nearly 20% of online consumer households change the way they are billed each month and that e-billing interest has hit a new high, the company said.

"Consumers indicate it is important for billers to provide multiple payment options and many report changing the way they pay their bills month-to-month due to timing and funds availability," Fiserv said in a statement about the report.
