Six credit union representatives from Paraguay are visiting with the Minnesota Credit Union Network for a week of business, tourist and social activities.
Today, they'll meet learn about state politics and credit union advocacy activities during a visit to the State Capitol with Speaker of the House Kurt Zellers (R-Maple Grove) and the Commerce Department's Deputy Commissioner of Administration Steve Carlson.
The visit is part of an international exchange between MnCUN and its Paraguayan counterpart that began in 2004, and is being held in anticipation of the 2012 International Year of Cooperatives.
The South American visitors also will discuss industry issues with their hosts, including social media, branch design, policies and procedures, the MnCUN said.
Credit unions on their itinerary include Hiway FCU, SouthPoint FCU, SPIRE FCU and St. Paul FCU, the MnCUN said. The league also hosted a group from Paraguay in 2008 in a partnership with WOCCU.
