In a bid to encourage consumers to switch, Local Government Federal Credit Union has launched a new microsite it calls 'Make the Move'.

Designed as a way to showcase the benefits and value of credit union membership, in addition to driving home the message that members have never paid a debit card fee, the microsite asks visitors a series of questions aimed at helping consumers decide if a credit union is a better alternative for them.

Visitors who are eligible to join the $1 billion credit union are provided a “switch kit” and those who are not eligible to join LGFCU are redirected to FindaCreditUnion.com or ASmarterChoice.org.

“Some banks may have changed their minds in reaction to consumer backlash, but that's because they realized they didn't put their customers' best interests first. As a cooperative of member-owners, you can bet credit unions do have the members' best interests in mind,” said Ashley Ruffin, vice president of marketing at the Raleigh, N.C.-based credit union.
