By the close of business on Sunday, almost 1,200 of the 19,000 real estate professionals attending the National Association of Realtors Conference and Expo had passed through the America's Credit Unions booth and gotten information about credit union mortgage lending.
As it has for several years, the American Credit Union Mortgage Association organized the booth, this time in Anaheim, Calif., and brought a team of credit union mortgage professionals to staff it, interact with Realtors and explain credit union mortgage options and programs.
“Much to my pleasant surprise hundreds of Realtors welcomed America's Credit Unions with open arms and warm smiles. It was truly fantastic and exciting. I look forward to a very productive 2012,” said ACUMA President Bob Dorsa.
He also noted that credit unions' rising media and consumer profile had begun to be felt in the overall mortgage market.
“Realtors are very aware about differences between banks and CUs now,” he said. “All the publicity we have received in recent months had made a big difference. We are finally receiving recognition we have earned for more than 100 years of faithful service.”
