Five people ready to be new credit union members were waiting at a branch Saturday of Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union, according to its COO, Lisa Burroughs.
"We've had around 20 new members so far, way more than we normally get on a Saturday, when we usually get one or two. We're getting a lot of loan applications, too, and people taking advantage of our CD specials," Burroughs said.
The $1.1 billion, 66,000-member Michigan Schools and Government CU has nine branches in Macomb and Oakland counties in suburban Detroit, and all were open, instead of the usual three on Saturday, Burroughs said.
