Bank Transfer Day: CUNA Says 650,000 Have So Far

CUNA said Thursday that a survey of 5,000 credit unions shows that least 650,000 consumers have joined in past month.

CUNA said Thursday that at least 650,000 consumers have joined credit unions since Bank of America announced its now-canceled plans to charge $5 a month for debit cards.

An additional $4.5 billion in new savings accounts also has gone to credit unions during that time, the trade group said, basing its estimate on a survey of 5,000 credit unions nationwide.
