Kellogg Community Federal Credit Union of Battle Creek, Mich., spent the month of October  celebrating its 70th anniversary.

"70 Years of Smiles" was the theme developed to promote this milestone to members as well as nonmembers.

KCFCU has been drawing winners for $70 Target gift cards, and one lucky winner will win the grand prize, a 46" Toshiba HDTV.

KCFCU was founded in 1941 by twelve Kellogg Company employees who contributed $5 each and applied for a charter, forming Kellogg Federal Credit Union to serve the financial needs of Kellogg Co. employees.

In 2001, KCFCU became a community chartered credit union and now serves those who live, work or worship in Allegan, Barry, Berrien, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, Van Buren and St. Joseph counties.

The credit union serves more than 30,000 members and has more than $370 million in assets.

Last month, members of St. Joseph Valley Community Federal Credit Union in Three Rivers, Mich.,  voted to merge with KCFCU.

"We are excited to be celebrating our 70th anniversary, we are thankful to our members as well as the great communities that we serve, without them we would not be where we are today," said Tracy Miller, CEO of Kellogg Community FCU.
