In a spirit of competition and service, the staff of Eli Lilly FCU in Indianapolis set a goal of acquiring 121 pairs of new athletic shoes for children in need but ended up with 618. In fact, the winning team among seven acquired 208 pairs on its own. The shoes were destined for the Indiana Credit Union League’s annual meeting earlier this month to be combined with other credit unions’ donations and sent on to Samaritan’s Fee, an international charitable organization to provide 10 million children around the world with new shoes in 10 years. “Our employees go to great lengths to support the community and others in need,” said Lisa Schlehuber, the $987 million credit union’s CEO. “I’m in complete awe of their generosity and determination to make a positive impact. This wildly successful shoe drive illustrates the caring spirit that lives here at ELFCU.”
