Leon-Decker, president/CEO of the $47 million District Government Employees FCU, was nominated by President Barack Obama to succeed Gigi Hyland, whose term expired Aug. 2.
Federation President/CEO Clifford Rosenthal said Leon-Decker's credit union “is a member community development credit union (CDCU) of the Federation, and has played an outstanding role in extending services to the low-income residents of the District of Columbia.”
“We've had the opportunity to collaborate with Carla both domestically and internationally. We have no doubt that she will serve on the NCUA Board with distinction,” Rosenthal said.
Leon-Decker has been active in numerous credit union organizations, is a Credit Union Development Educator and a co-founder and director of the Network of Latino Credit Unions and Professionals.
Her 10,800-member CU reported a profit of $31,167 in the first six months of 2011 after reporting losses of $119,797 for 2007, $369,282 for 2008, $483,946 for 2009, and $322,790 for 2010.
