Des Moines, Iowa-based payments innovator Dwolla today announced it now supports payments via text message and also to LinkedIn users.

This brings to seven the number of ways Dwolla users can send money:  Dwolla ID; to Facebook friends; to Twitter users; to LinkedIn users; to any email address; via text message; or by selecting the recipient from a list of people and businesses nearby via Dwolla's proximity payments tool, Proxi

"The statement is strong: Dwolla keeps innovating in terms of how people can pay each other," said Brian Day, an executive at The Members Group, an Iowa-based financial and credit union service organization that is a key Dwolla partner. "And Dwolla keeps offering more ways to pay."

Day added, "Dwolla users have been clamoring for text payments. It's a great example of how Dwolla moves – and moves quickly – to bring the products people want to market."

Although Dwolla presently is primarily operational in Iowa, Day indicated that there "soon" will be announcements about relationships with institutions in other states.

"There are a number of projects that we are not yet ready to announce," he said.
