Arizona State Credit Union has helped state employees save more than 23,000 gallons of fuel as part of its sponsorship of Capitol Rideshare's summer Clean Air Campaign.
Capitol Rideshare, which provides state employees with information about ride sharing, participates in the Clean Air Campaign four times a year in one-week periods as part of an ongoing effort to educate employees about alternate modes of transportation.
The $1.3 billion Phoenix credit union donated the prizes, including Apple iPads, iPod Shuffles and iTunes gift cards, to help drive carpool participation during the campaign's challenge weeks.
Armed with giveaways and other offers, Arizona State CU staffers also stopped by various state employee buildings in downtown Phoenix to encourage involvement.
During the two-week Clean Air campaign some 5.8 tons of pollutants were not released into the air, representing the highest record since a 2003 campaign, the 121,000-member credit union said.
