A new alliance from Navy Federal Credit Union will help the USO of Metropolitan Washington continue to serve deployed troops worldwide.

According to the $46 billion CU, headquartered in Vienna, Va., the partnership will help support programs including the USO-Metro's four airport lounges and Operation USO Care Package.

During the past year, USO-Metro airport lounges served 122,550 service members and their families, Navy Federal said. Every year, the USO distributes between 250,000 and 300,000 care packages, containing items such as international calling cards, disposable cameras and toiletries, to deployed service members, according to the CU.

"Like the USO, Navy Federal has a long tradition of serving our men and women in uniform, and their families," said Nancy DeDona, vice president of membership at Navy Federal.

USO-Metro President Elaine Rogers said working with the credit union will help the organization continue its efforts.

"The USO's role is to do the little things to boost morale and let them know they are supported and appreciated. The continued generosity of the community makes it possible for USO-Metro to serve the troops and their families, and we are truly grateful for this new partnership," Rogers said.
