Postal Federal Community Credit Union has joined a growing group of credit unions opting to transform their brand.
The Springfield, Mo.-based credit union, the largest in its hometown, will now be known as BluCurrent Credit Union.
The move is designed to better reflect the credit union's expanded field of membership, which includes federal employees and anyone who lives or works in a 10-county area in southwest Missouri.
According to BluCurrent CU CEO Steve Pierson, the 17,200-member credit union worked with Seattle branding firm Weber Marketing Group to come up with a name that is more inclusive and breaks down consumers' perceived barriers to becoming a member.
The credit union was founded in 1929 by postal workers in Springfield and has held the expanded charter since 1994.
