The $44 billion Navy Federal Credit Union said it will open its 217th branch on Monday, this one a few miles south of Boeing and the Army's Apache Helicopter Training Center in Mesa, Ariz.
The standalone branch takes up 3,500 square feet in the Mesa Walmart Shopping Center and is expected to serve more than 10,000 members in the Phoenix area, the world's largest credit union said.
“The branch will allow us to offer members more convenient access to our full array of products and services, including mortgage, business and auto loans,” said Patrick Miller, vice president, Branch Operations.
Navy Federal said it has added 1.1 million members since it expanded its FOM to include the Air Force, Army, Department of Defense personnel and their families. Last year, Navy opened its first branch in Maricopa County near Luke AFB in Glendale, Ariz.
The Vienna, Va., credit union now has about 3.7 million members. It also just opened a new branch in Columbia, S.C., just outside of the main gate of the Army's sprawling Fort Jackson basic training post.
Other branches slated to open this year are at Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth in Kansas, Fort Rucker in Enterprise, Ala., Patrick AFB in Cocoa Beach, Fla., Fort Carson in Colorado, and in Jacksonville, Fla., and Dallas, Navy Federal said.
