First Tech Federal Credit Union has expanded its relationship with security specialist Websense after using the San Diego company's data-leak protection tools to protect more than 55,000 separate pieces of electronic communications during the credit union's massive merger.
First Tech of Beaverton, Ore., and Addison Avenue FCU of Palo Alto, Calif., completed their consolidation a couple months ago, bringing together a $4.75 billion institution with 38 branches and about 335,000 members in the nation's largest interstate combination of credit unions.
The first step for Websense was to work with the credit unions to identify and secure more than 55,000 separate merger-related pieces of communications, a process that took place between April and November last year.
