Sixteen credit unions from nine states, including a first from West Virginia, have signed on as users of the CU*BASE core processing system in the past year.

CU*Answers officials also told attendees at its recent client conference in hometown Grand Rapids, Mich., that it added 11 new owners and now has 94 credit union shareholders.

One of its regional partners, CU*NorthWest in Spokane, Wash., has 12 more owners of its own and has 20 clients using the CU*BASE system, including five added in California in the past year, the companies said. CU*South in Mobile, Ala., serves 13 credit unions, they said.

By the end of the business year on Sept. 30, the CUSO said, CU*Answers will be providing core processing to 189 credit unions in 24 states, with more than 1.4 million members and $10 billion in assets.

The first West Virginia client is the $25 million WV United in Charleston, the CUSO said.
