The $777 million Columbia Credit Union in Vancouver, Wash., has deployed multi-mode mobile banking using the mBanking platform from mFoundry of Larkspur, Calif.

The credit union's 65,000 members are being offered mobile Web, text banking and apps for iPhones, Android and BlackBerry devices.

Functionality includes balances, transaction history, transfers bill pay and branch and ATM locators.

The service launched June 27 and in the first week, 6.6% of the credit union's online bankers had signed up, said Jen Shefner, assistant vice president of e-commerce and the mobile banking project lead.

“That's a phenomenal response considering our six-month goal of 8%,” Shefner said.

Columbia CU joins a client list of 425 financial institutions, including more than 150 credit unions, said its co-founder and CEO, Drew Sievers.

“We look forward to helping them continue to enhance the mobile banking experience for their members with features like mobile deposit or mobile alerts,” Sievers said of the Vancouver credit union.
