The $783 million TruWest Credit Union in Tempe, Ariz., is now using a new solution to allow its mobile administrators to securely view email attachments.

The AttachView solution from Toronto, Ont.-based Messageware can secure hundreds of types of file attachments for the 58,000-member credit union's mobile administrators to open while working off site using Microsoft Office's Outlook Web Access software.

The AttachView solution creates an HTML equivalent of the attachment, allowing it to be viewed securely. The files can only be edited back at the office. Such measures are needed to minimize risk and comply with growing regulatory mandates, the company and credit union said.

“We conduct annual mobile security training for our smartphone, laptop and OWA users. People realize that we have obligations to our members and to regulators, so they understand the security restrictions,” said Tom Gessel, TruWest senior vice president and chief technology officer.
