Texas Credit Union League Chief Advocacy Officer James H. "Buddy" Gill III was named the NCUA's senior strategic communications and external relations adviser on Monday.
Gill, who has worked at the league for seven years, will report to NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz and design and executive communications initiatives and be a liaison to credit unions and other stakeholders. He will also work with the agency's Public and Congressional Affairs Office.
Before joining the Texas Credit Union League, Gill ran his own communications consulting firm and was one of the key architects of the strategy that helped persuade Congress to pass HR 1151, the NCUA said.
"We're very excited to have Buddy join our professional team," Matz said in a statement. His keen strategic sense, communication abilities, and credit union legislative successes are well known and respected nationally. Buddy can hit the ground running at NCUA."
Gill is scheduled to begin his new job on July 5.
