The effectiveness of rules ranging from debt collection to compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the Freedom of Information Act will be part of the NCUA's annual review of one third of its regulations.

The agency announced that it will be accepting written comments through Aug. 5 on topics such as reporting suspicious activities, making loans to areas at risk of flooding, the procedures for requesting information from the agency, rules on preserving records, debt collection practices and post-employment restrictions for certain NCUA examiners.

"NCUA's goal is that all regulations are clearly articulated and easily understood and comments are welcome on that aspect as well as substantive suggestions for regulatory changes,'' the agency said in announcing the reviews.
