Autoland Inc. said that for each vehicle purchased through the car-buying CUSO, it will donate a portion to assist those impacted by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Through April 30, the Chatsworth, Calif.-based CUSO said it will send the contributions through the American Red Cross. The per vehicle contribution equates to 7% of profit, according to Marcia Francisco, senior vice president of marketing and business development at Autoland.

“This is a devastating disaster in human terms that's magnified by the unstable nuclear situation in Japan,” Francisco said. “Beyond the human tragedy, this disaster has severely disrupted the Japanese auto industry. We're watching that situation closely to see how it might impact members of our partner credit unions who are trying to purchase cars, and how we might be able to help.”

Autoland, owned by CU Vehicles LLC, serves more than 200 credit unions.
