The African-American Credit Union Coalition is encouraging its members to write to their elected officials urging them to say no to the debit card interchange rule.
The group has provided a link on its site to a website launched by NAFCU that contains information on contacting legislators. A provision in the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act gives the Federal Reserve the authority to set limits on the interchange fee that could be charged to merchants who use the debit card system.
Both NAFCU and CUNA are supporting bills in the House and Senate that would order a delay in the implementation of the interchange rule.
