There's a new name on the horizon for Postal Federal Community Credit Union.
Wanting to break down consumer misperceptions about who can be a member, the Springfield, Mo.-based credit union plans to roll out a new name by summer 2011.
Founded in 1929 by Springfield postal workers, PFCCU later expanded membership to include federal employees and in 1994 was granted the ability to serve anyone who lives or works in a 10-county area in Southwest Missouri. Recognizing the huge role that postal and federal staffers and their families have played in the credit union's success over the last 82 years, PFCCU President/CEO Steve Pierson said the name selected will pay tribute to their loyalty and the credit union's roots.
"Based on research we've conducted over the last few years, we learned our current name presents a barrier to people who believe they can't use our credit union," said Pierson.
The $130 million credit union has turned to a nationally recognized naming firm for their expertise and plans are under way for a new name and rebrand this summer.
