The $641 million Purdue Federal Credit Union reports that an affinity card that it issues on behalf of the Purdue Alumni Association is the leading driver for new CU membership.
This is sharply different from many other CUs which find their credit card is a significantly lower member priority.
Stephanie Hainje, a credit card program specialist for Purdue, told participants on a web seminar on affinity card programs organized by Callahan and Associates, that the four year old affinity program is the CUs most profitable product and has proved crucial to retaining members who have moved out of the CUs immediate area.
She also reported that the affinity card program has helped boost Purdue into being one of Visa top 250 credit card issuers.
