Mainstreet Credit Union members raised nearly $17,250 for charity in three months through the credit union's annual Skip a Payment Program. The total donation was almost a $3,600 increase from last year.
Skip a Payment allows members with current loans and accounts in good standing to skip one payment during the program period. The credit union suggests participating members consider a donation of $10 or more to benefit Children's Miracle Network.
The credit union offers the program every year from Nov. 1 through Jan. 1. In 2010, 1,156 members participated.
"Each year, the Skip A Payment Program proves very popular, as holiday celebrations and end-of-year activities often leave household budgets feeling strained," Mainstreet President/CEO John Beverlin said. "And each year, our members show their support through voluntary donations to Children's Miracle Network."
Children's Miracle Network was established in 1983 to provide improved health care for children. Today it has 170 associated hospitals nationwide and raises more than $250 million each year.
