Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union, St. Paul, Minn., announced that its chief administrative officer, Elizabeth Hayes, was honored with the award of "Top Women in Finance," presented by Finance & Commerce. Finance & Commerce honors high-achieving women across Minnesota with its annual Top Women in Finance awards program. The award recognizes the outstanding efforts of women who are making notable contributions to their professions, their communities and society at large.

Alpena Alcona Area Credit Union, Alpena, Mich., was presented a second-place Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility and Recognition award from the Michigan Credit Union League for its fundraising for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly called Lou Gehrig's disease. The award acknowledges the exceptional community contribution and charitable works of a credit union. The judges look at the involvement of staff volunteers at all levels of employment as well as the amount of funds raised.

Greater Nevada Credit Union, Carson City, Nev., announced that its President/CEO Wally Murray was honored as the outgoing Nevada Credit Union League board chairman during the league's annual meeting in Anaheim, Calif. The Nevada Credit Union League received the 2010 Buck Levins Award from CUNA for its outstanding advocacy efforts. Greater Nevada Credit Union was also recognized by the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues and awarded Nevada Credit Union Advocate of the Year.

HarborOne Credit Union, Brockton, Mass., announced that Maureen Wilkinson, vice president of its "HarborOne U," won the newly introduced chamber president's award from the United Regional Chamber of Commerce. Wilkinson is a United Regional board member, and received the award for outstanding dedication and service to the Chamber Board, its members and the community. HarborOne U is one of the country's first centers devoted to financial education, life and career management services and small business assistance.

Hudson River Community Credit Union, Corinth, N.Y., recognized 10 employees at their annual employee recognition dinner in Lake George, N.Y. Erika Williams was given the President's Award, Crystal Holcomb and Kimmi Woodcock each won member service awards and seven other employees were awarded for providing years of service, including Lorie VanAuken, who has served the credit union for 30 years.

Idaho Credit Union League, Boise, Idaho, received the 2010 Luke Award from St. Luke's Health Foundation. The league and its member credit unions were recognized for their "Credit Union for Kids" program, which is committed to helping St. Luke's Children's Hospital at every opportunity. Participating southwest Idaho credit unions have volunteered and raised money to help the young patients at St. Luke's through a variety of efforts, including volunteering at the annual Children's Miracle Network telethon and orchestrating a wide variety of credit union fundraisers.

North Jersey Federal Credit Union, Totowa, N.J., announced that its President/CEO Lourdes Cortez was selected as one of two 2010 STAR Award recipients by the North Jersey Regional Chamber of Commerce. Highly regarded as a pioneer in her field, Cortez is the first Hispanic woman to serve as a CEO of a credit union in the United States. She was named the president/ CEO of the credit union in 2005.

Redwood Credit Union, Santa Rosa, Calif., was named California Credit Union Advocate of the Year by the California Credit Union League. The credit union was selected for the award based on exemplary dedication and leadership in the field of political advocacy, including ongoing efforts to educate lawmakers about the unique benefits of credit unions, and engaging staff and their membership in supporting political action to benefit and protect credit unions and their members.

St. Vrain Valley Credit Union, Longmont, Colo., announced that Darlene Brown, its executive vice president and chief financial officer, received the 2010 emerging leader award from the Credit Union Foundation of Colorado and Wyoming. The award was presented to Brown for her ability to communicate a vision and to inspire people to follow her direction, and for her willingness to accept and complete projects that benefited the credit union membership and the community.

Travis Credit Union, Vacaville, Calif., was honored as the 2010 recipient of the Beacon Award from the Richard Myles Johnson Foundation, the state educational foundation for credit unions in California and Nevada. The award recognizes promising or exemplary financial education programs or projects.

TruMark Financial Credit Union, Trevose, Pa., was recognized as one of Pennsylvania's best places to work by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, the Pennsylvania Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Central Penn Business Journal. Recognized for the second year in a row, the credit union ranked sixth in its size category.
