Fiserv Inc. will be working with WorkLight Inc. to provide applications and widgets across a wide variety of touchpoints, including smartphones, tablets, social network sites and computers.

WorkLight is a New York City-based provider of mobile application platforms that include native and Web development, integration and tracking tools.

They will be used to produce custom and packaged applications that will "allow banks and credit unions to extend new and existing banking and payments 'apps' to multiple environments beyond their traditional online or mobile presence," Fiserv said.

The two companies will initially focus on payment applications for gifting, alerts and donations with plans to expand into a broad range of banking solutions that can be brought to market quickly, they said.

"The pervasiveness and growth of new end-user devices and computing experiences present not only a significant business opportunity but also an increasing technical challenge for banks, as they struggle to keep up with the latest and most popular touch-points," said Shahar Kaminitz, CEO of WorkLight.
