1st Advantage Federal Credit Union, Yorktown, Va., received a Green Award from the Newport News Green Foundation for its Denbigh branch. The award was given in recognition of the branch's effort to enhance the quality of life and beauty of the city of Newport News.

Citadel Federal Credit Union, Thorndale, Pa., announced that Kevin McDermott, a registered representative affiliated with CUSO Financial Services, was ranked No. 25 in Bank Investment Consultant's Top 50 Bank Reps in 2010. This is the third time McDermott has made the list. He is the top-ranking credit union representative and is a recipient of CFS' 2010 Gold Pacesetter Award, honoring the top-producing registered representatives among CFS' 130-plus credit union programs.

Clearview Federal Credit Union, Moon Township, Pa., announced the winner of its third annual Joseph C. Cirelli Community Service Award. Charlotte DiNardo was chosen for her volunteer efforts over the past eight years at Our Own Home, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing and vocational opportunities to mentally challenged residents of Allegheny County. The award is named in honor of the former president and CEO of Clearview. It commemorates the efforts of a worthy volunteer with a $2,500 donation to the charity of their choice.

DATCU Credit Union, Denton, Texas, was named by North Texas Child Magazine as the "Best Bank That Caters to Kiddos" in its 2010 Best for Families list. Readers cited qualities that made the credit union a great destination for families, including the Dollar Dog Kids Club account and special events geared toward kids and their families, such as last year's Splash Day at Denton Water Works Park.

Delaware Federal Credit Union, Dover, Del., co-sponsored the second annual Delmarvalous Women Awards banquet in November, and one of its own employees was among the 27 women honored at the event. Amy Resh is an executive office manager for the credit union, and also serves as board vice president for the Del-One Foundation, a nonprofit corporation that has been formed to raise funds for charitable purposes benefiting the residents of Delaware.

Enrichment Federal Credit Union, Oak Ridge, Tenn., gave its Volunteer of the Year award to Card Services Manager Lou Ann Lawrence, who was active in Anderson County Relay for Life and was the 2010 County Chairman. The credit union also recognized Marketing Coordinator Brian Fain as its 2010 Employee of the Year. Fain came to EFCU in 2008 from a background in both banks and credit unions, and he has been described as eager, upbeat and creative.

GECU, El Paso, Texas, announced the winner of its Savings Challenge competition, in which six participants committed to becoming financially educated, lessening their debt, building savings and maintaining a budget. Heather McBride, a young professional physical therapist, was recently named the $10,000 grand prize winner. Since 2007, contestants in the Savings Challenge contests have collectively saved over $174,000 and reduced their debt by $281,648.

Genisys Credit Union, Auburn Hills, Mich., announced that Linda Zabik, its manager of public relations and community involvement, was honored with a 2010 National Philanthropy Day Distinguished Volunteer award. The award was given by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Detroit Chapter in recognition of Zabik's dedication to the Woodward Avenue Action Association, for which she has been a board member for six years.

Kauai Community Federal Credit Union, Kauai, Hawaii, announced that its credit manager Justin Ganaden and senior loan officer Nora Shepherd were named Lending Officers of the Year by the Small Business Administration for their outstanding performance in serving small business borrowing needs in their island community.

Michigan First Credit Union, Lathrup Village, Mich., and its marketing agency LemmonTree Marketing Group were honored with a Platinum Winner Award in the external newsletter/association category in the 2010 MarCom Awards of the Association of Marketing & Communication Professionals. The design of the credit union's spring 2010 newsletter was judged by the association to exceed industry standards.

Michigan State University Federal Credit Union, East Lansing, Mich., received two awards from the Greater Lansing community: the Peckham 2010 Community Partnership Award and the Michigan State University Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Community Partner Award. The Peckham award is in recognition of the credit union's support of Peckham's goal of preparing persons with disabilities and other barriers to become more self-sufficient and financially stable. The other award was for providing service-learning support at twelve Greater Lansing schools and community organization sites.

Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, Kingston, N.Y., was awarded the 2010 Home Run Heroes award from the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for raising over $21,000 to help support finding a cure for juvenile diabetes. The credit union is one of just two recipients of this prestigious award in the Hudson Valley, N.Y., Chapter. It has raised more than $100,000 for the organization since 2002.

XCEL Federal Credit Union, Bloomfield, N.J., announced that Lourdes Villasuso was named employee of the year. The announcement was made at the company's Christmas party on Dec. 4. Lourdes is currently serving as an administrative assistant.
