Holy Rosary Credit Union, Rochester, N.H., announced the promotion of Debbie Smith to senior loan officer. Smith began her career with the credit union in 1988 as a part-time teller/financial services associate and moved to a full-time position in June 2000. In November 2002 Smith was promoted to loan officer, and she is currently studying to become a certified financial counselor.
SEFCU, Albany, N.Y., announced a number of employee promotions. Joanne Augstein-Collins is vice president of innovations, Cheryl Collier is vice president of operations, Nicole Stein is vice president of marketing, Sally Porush is vice president of employee experience and Christopher Ward is vice president of retail distribution. Jenny Brannon has been made manager of member education, Tanya Buechner is marketing manager and Amanda Stallmer is manager of employee services.
WEST
Aventa Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Colo., hired Toby Hayes as its new marketing manager. Hayes joins the credit union with more than 10 years of marketing and communications experience, including writing, editing, photography and graphic design. As marketing manager, Hayes will manage Aventa's external marketing campaigns and promotional and collateral materials, and will be the primary point of contact for the various employer groups in its membership base.
Bay Federal Credit Union, Capitola, Calif., appointed Sheila Joyce Kellerman to serve a three-year term as a board director. Kellerman was appointed as an associate director to Bay Federal's board in August 2010. She is a certified public accountant with more than 20 years of experience in business finance, accounting and taxation. She holds a master's degree in taxation and a bachelor's degree in accounting from San Jose State University and is an active member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Redwood Credit Union, Santa Rosa, Calif., announced that its President/CEO Brett Martinez has been elected to the CUNA board of directors. Martinez has served as RCU's president and CEO since 2004 and has more than 25 years of credit union experience. He served as 2009 chairman of the board of the California Credit Union League and continues to participate on several league committees. He is the Bay Area fundraising coordinator for Credit Unions for Kids, and he is also active on numerous local nonprofit, community and industry boards.
MIDWEST
Royal Credit Union, Eau Claire, Wis., announced the retirement of Richard Greene, who served on the RCU board of directors for almost 19 years. Greene was instrumental in the building of RCU's corporate center in downtown Eau Claire's Phoenix Park, a venture that has sparked the city's downtown revitalization. RCU appointed Stuart Schaefer to the RCU board of directors to serve the remainder of Greene's term, which ends in April 2011. Schaefer has been a real estate professional for over 30 years.
Veridian Credit Union, Waterloo, Iowa, announced that Erin Bartlett has been hired to the position of web developer. A native of Humboldt, Iowa, Bartlett was previously employed as a business analyst with Meredith Corp. She graduated from Wartburg College with a degree in physics and is active with Orchard Hill Church.
SOUTH
Georgetown Kraft Credit Union, Georgetown, S.C., announced several new employees and promotions. Charlene Leigh has been promoted to head teller in the Pawleys Island branch and Tara Glass has been promoted to head teller in the Georgetown branch. Sherry Sutton has been promoted to assistant head teller in the Georgetown office. Anna Catoe has joined the staff as an assistant to the loan department clerk, and three new tellers-Rody Stegall, Wendy Drake and Tammie Moore-were also hired.
Member One Federal Credit Union, Roanoke, Va., named Eva Shaw as the new vice president of the Vinton branch. Shaw has been with Member One for three years. Previously, she worked in branch operations and most recently as the teller supervisor at the main office branch in downtown Roanoke. Shaw worked in the banking industry for seven years before coming to Member One. She earned her bachelor's degree in accounting from Norfolk State University.
Security Service Federal Credit Union, San Antonio, Texas, announced that Nikki Hartman has been selected as service center manager for the credit union's location in Fort Collins, Colo., previously Norbel Credit Union before it was acquired by SSFCU in July of 2010. In addition, Donna German has been selected as the manager of the credit union's service center in Longmont, Colo. German has worked in the credit union industry for more than 14 years and was previously employed with Norbel Credit Union.
Virginia Credit Union, Richmond, Va., added two members to volunteer leadership posts. Robert P. Schultze was named an associate director of the board. Schultze is director of the Virginia Retirement System. Manju S. Ganeriwala was appointed a member of the credit union's asset liability committee. Ganeriwala is the treasurer of Virginia.
Volunteer Corporate Credit Union, Nashville, Tenn., announced the addition of Chris Hartung as director of risk management. Hartung brings almost 20 years of experience in the credit union movement, specializing in a broad spectrum of financial and risk management at natural person credit unions. He began his credit union career in 1991 as a financial analyst at Technology Credit Union in San Jose, Calif., and most recently served as vice president of finance at National 1st Credit Union in Santa Clara, Calif.
