I appreciated Sarah Snell Cooke's Editor's Column in the Dec. 1 issue ["Money Doesn't Grow on Trees"]. I gave a similar message in e-mails to all of our congressman in Tennessee (Sens. Corker and Alexander and Rep. Duncan) regarding the NCUA receiving these massive budget increases over the last two years while credit unions are paying these massive assessments for the next 12 years. I asked them to investigate the budgeting of the agency. I have not received a reply as of yet. I may forward the article to them as Cooke has done the hard statistical reporting for me.
I do not feel our trade associations aggressively voice this same message to Congress or the NCUA, and it is very disappointing. Our credit union paid several thousand dollars for CUNA dues this morning, and I am not sure what for.
