America First Credit Union, Riverdale, Utah, has fully converted all five branch offices of Las Vegas-based Community One Federal Credit Union, just over a year after assuming COFCU operations at the direction of the NCUA. A declining financial position led to COFCU’s involuntary liquidation. At the time of its assumption by America First, Community One had about $159 million in assets and 21,000 members. AFCU’s five Las Vegas-area branches opened for business on Sept. 7.

Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, Groton, Conn., celebrated the opening of its second high school branch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. On Sept. 15 at Killingly High School, refreshments were served to town and school officials and the credit union’s ten student tellers were introduced. The branch was built to promote financial literacy to Killingly teens. Featuring the “Focused on Finances” program, the branch will guide students through the basic steps of banking and help them avoid the pitfalls of debt.
