Empower Federal Credit Union in Syracuse, N.Y., has sent out an alert about a new scam that is targeting its members.
Members have been receiving a call from a number claiming to represent the credit union saying that the member's card has been compromised. The caller asks the member to enter sensitive information including card numbers, expirations dates and PINs.
The callers have also contacted residents in the Syracuse area saying that they represent businesses such as Best Buy.
