Tinker Federal Credit Union has expanded its financial education outreach to include prison inmates and at-risk youth.
The Oklahoma City-based credit union's Assistant Vice President/Financial Empowerment Program Manager Cynthia Campbell said she can't think of a group that needs it more than those in Oklahoma prisons and Department of Human Services facilities.
Campbell conducted workshops at two minimum-security prisons in Oklahoma for prisoners who are within a year of being released. At Clara Waters Community Corrections Center, a men's facility, she presented two topics, Building a Better Budget and Understanding Credit, to an audience of about 30 inmates. A week later, she visited Hillside Community Corrections, a women's facility, presenting the same topics to 37 inmates.
