Founder and chairman of Strunk & Associates, Bill Strunk, passed away on June 10 after battling leukemia.

Bill was well respected in both the bank and credit union communities," said Mike Sobba, Strunk's president/CEO in a statement. "In addition to designing and deploying the original overdraft privilege service program, Bill was responsible for a number of other innovations now commonly used by banks and credit unions nationwide," he continued. "He will be truly missed by our entire organization, as well as all who knew him."

During his career Strunk developed head-on drive-in systems, member satisfaction models, telebanking, PIN and signature identification systems, and shared ATM networks.

"The thing I remember most about Bill was his tireless commitment to absolutely doing things right and leaving no stone unturned when it came to making his programs the class of the industry when it comes to regulatory compliance and educating the member from a financial responsibility perspective."

Memorial services will be held tomorrow at Klein Funeral Chapel-Champions in Spring, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be make to the Leukemia Society of American at www.leukemia.org.
