Credit Union Executives Society, Madison, Wis., announced that Barbara Kachelski, chief audit executive, senior vice president and chief operations officer, was named to the Wisconsin Society of Association Executives' Hall of Fame. Kachelski has been a member of WSAE since 2003 and a member of the American Society of Association Executives, WSAE's national counterpart, since 1989. She has volunteered her time in a variety of ways. Additionally, Kachelski just began a new term on WSAE's board of directors.
Minnesota Credit Union Network, Mora, Minn., announced that Greater Minnesota Credit Union received national recognition for its work to increase financial literacy in the community. The credit union earned honorable mention in the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award. The credit union placed first in the statewide competition and went on to complete against credit unions from across the nation. The credit union's project involved teaching money skills to youth through its Youth Financial Literacy Outreach program.
GPO Federal Credit Union, Albany, N.Y., announced that employee, Kristi Cieslak, was the lucky grand prize winner of a warehouse dash provided by FIS, Covera Card Solutions' card processing partner. The warehouse is filled with all the "awards" available to cardholders and includes items such as a MACbook air laptop, Movado watches, pearl and diamond earrings, an all-clad cookware set, a Sony Blu-Ray Disc home theater system and more. Cieslak's was one of thousands of entries received by FIS as part of its "Did You Know" campaign.

Pacific Service Credit Union, Walnut Creek, Calif., received a Congressional Certificate of Special Recognition from California Congressman George Miller (D). The credit union received the certificate in acknowledgment of its efforts in raising awareness and preventing financial abuse of elderly and dependent adults in the communities it serves. The credit union received the special recognition at a symposium on avoiding financial abuse, frauds and scams held in Concord, Calif.
Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Bethpage, N.Y., recognized over 100 members who have been banking with the cooperative financial institution for 50 or more years. The reception held at Bethpage headquarters was the official launch of Bethpage's Charter Club.
NuMark Credit Union, Joliet, Ill., held two contests for its members to win big. The two separate contests yielded three winners who walked away with $500 in gift cards. Winners Tammy and Lee Chmielewski will be driving for free with a $250 Speedway gas card for financing their auto loan at the credit union. A third winner, Marcus Cotton, was awarded a $250 Visa gift card just for using his NuMark Visa check card. All members who used their NuMark check card and selected credit were eligible for an automatic entry each time.
Dane County Credit Union, Madison, Wis., announced that Louie Eifert, volunteer board member won the National Director of the Year award for his dedication to improving the financial health and well-being of those living or working in Dane County. Eifert, a retired Fitchburg police officer, has served on the credit union's board of directors for almost 20 years.
A+ Federal Credit Union, Austin, Texas, helped member and first-time buyer Melissa S. by paying her $2,160 closing costs as part of its ongoing mission to help members achieve their dreams. Since its inception in 2008, the "What's Your Dream?" campaign encourages members to focus on setting goals and provides them with the tools, community resources, and financial products and services they need to attain their goals. Melissa was the second to receive a sizeable sum of money from the credit union.
Members Cooperative Credit Union, Duluth, Minn., awarded member and emergency fund account holder Stephanie Richards with a $1,000 check. The credit union awarded monthly $250 winners and Richards was randomly selected for its one $1,000 drawing. The credit union's emergency fund account offers incentives to account holders who build their savings on a monthly basis through automatic transfers.
