Kathy Keenan-Swanson, the head teller at the $91 million Southwest Montana Federal Credit Union of Anaconda, is preparing to face her first test in her pursuit of a House seat in the Montana legislature.
Keenan-Swanson, who numbers among a rare breed of CU executives seeking state elective office this year, is on the June 8 primary ballot for the 86th District seat running against an opponent from a neighboring county.
The Southwest Montana teller, who appears favored to win, has long been interested in politics, drawing inspiration from the success of family members. Her late father, T. J. Keenan, was a representative, her sister is a former state superintendent of public instruction and one of her daughters is a key staffer for U.S Sen. Jon Tester, (D-Mont.)
